Amazed at what's possible.
Here are my thoughts on the really exciting news in the world of running lately.
Adidas releases the Adidas Adios Pro Evo 1. A $500 supershoe.
If you know me, you know I am a big running shoe nerd.
I love seeing all the technology develop in shoes.
I'll give you the highlights about this $500 supershoe:
- Weighs in at only 138 grams (size 9 reference), the lightest marathon shoe on the market
- Meant to only be used once
- Moved back the rocker geometry compared to the Adidas Adios Pro 3
- Outsole looks like a racing slick for a race car
Yared Nuguse Sets the New American Record for the 1 mile at 3:43.97
So get this, Yared breaks a 16 year old record by an American on this race last weekend, but he didn't even win the race!
The race was won by Norway's Jakob Ingebrigtsen with a time of 3:43.73. That finish wasn't a world record time, but it was good enough to be a the third best time in history for this distance.
Really awesome to see new breakthroughs in performance.
Lately, I've been reading a lot into how the Norwegians are training their endurance athletes. Seeing this result further convinces me they got something going on with their methods!
Eluid Kipchoge is still the GOAT. Wins his 5th Berlin Marathon at 2:02:42
Every time I watch Kipchoge run, I am inspired to run so effortlessly. I love watching his running form.
Kipchoge is considered to be the greatest of all time. He's won 2 Olympic gold medals and 11 world majors for the marathon.
Tigist Assefa breaks the world record for the women's marathon finish, with a time of 2:11:53
I love this story for two reasons. One because Tigist broke the world record, and two because of the shoes she wore for this race!
Yes, that's right, Tigist wore the new Adidas super shoes I mentioned earlier.
She was seen praising and kissing the shoes after the race. Now that was either a planned advertising stunt, genuine happiness and praise for the shoes that helped her break the record, or both. Either way, Adidas must be really happy.
Thank you for reading!

I'm testing out a new video format on YouTube I'm calling "Coach's Call", where I share answers to common questions about running and other performance and health tips.
I'd really appreciate if you could please check it out and let me know what you think!
